A game popularised by the French, boules is an outdoor game played with large iron balls. The players roll the large iron balls towards a small one and get them as close to it as possible.
This game is played nowhere else in the country. Earlier only the 'Soldats' (meaning soldiers in French) played this, but now many have taken to it. Nearly 30 boules clubs function in the City. Usually a 13 meters long and 8 meters broad ground is chosen to play tournaments.The iron balls weigh 650-800 grams and are imported from France. The game ends when a player scores 15 points, or in some cases 21 points.
Puducherry beach is a paradise on earth to the sun worshippers and the beach combers. Seagull, the Government restaurant gives a good company and there are quite a number of cottages, resorts, bars and cafes to invite the tourists to have a nice stay and sweet memory.

There are tree top houses available at Rs.1000/- equipped with all modern facilities to spend a night on the top of a tree.The rates for riding on the back waters vary depending upon the type and size of the boats. Visitors can also have unlimited fun by playing beach volleyball or pull out garden chains. There are available beach umbrellas to avoid sun strokes and get fishing rods for a catch.
